What is Driving Events Data?

Description

The Mobito driving events data provides anonymized insights into harsh driving behaviors, including harsh braking, acceleration/deceleration, sharp cornering (left/right), and crash events.

Data Source

The data is sourced by millions of vehicles globally from our vetted partners including:

  • Automotive OEMs; vehicles with embedded connectivity from the car manufacturer

  • Fleets with after-sales in-vehicle hardware telematics devices

Driving event types

Common event types used to characterize driving behaviour include:

  • Braking

  • Cornering (left/right)

  • Speeding up/ acceleration

  • Crash (while driving or parked)

Use Cases

This data enables road safety analysis, infrastructure planning, and driver behavior profiling.

  • Road safety: Helps road operators and municipalities identify high-risk road segments based on driving behavior and near-miss incidents, allowing for better maintenance planning and prioritization

  • Road infrastructure: Assists in planning and assessing the impact of infrastructure improvements on traffic flow and safety

  • Driving behaviour analysis: Supports automotive engineers in developing driver personas based on behavior patterns to inform the design of next-generation vehicles

FAQs

How is a vehicle type defined?

A vehicle type is determined either through algorithms that analyze the make and model (e.g., VIN decoding) or through manual input within driver systems.
